What can I use to quickly get dried-on glue from my hard wood floors? Over the last week I've tried mineral spirits, the odors are terrible. Then there was the adhesive remover - yeah, it didn't work either - well it did manage to bubble up the plastic coating on the cheapy baseboard we have. Good thing I wanna replace it anyway Then came the goo-gone as a result of an answerer here - nope, no luck there I bought Bostik's adhesive remover wipes at $18, but it takes a combination of wiping and scrubbing to get the floors clean. I bought the no odor mineral spirits and it works if I rub and rub and rub Is there anything, anything, anything that I can use to quickly get the glue off? I have 400 sq ft of floors that are covered in glue. *SIGH* MV - just for future reference - when you're installing wood floors on concrete, you glue it down.
Install hardwood floor in concrete slab? I'd like to glue down 3/4" deep x 2 1/4" wide solid oak stipe on first floor concrete slab (above grade) in my 30 year old town house. Is it possible? If so, what's the best way to do it? Should I use Moisture Vapor Barrier like Bostik MVP4? I am in PA.
anyone can recommend a roller applied concrete moisture sealer.? don't want to trowel MVP by bostik, or two component mixtures that heat up too fast. Looking for a moisture retarding membrane that can be applied by short nap roller. That is not heavy on odors , like the one I am currently using. Will be gluing down engineered floors to slab afterwards.
Hardwood Flooring Installation? In the old days people used "short" planks for flooring. Not only were they short, but they were also narrow. Does anyone have experience with Gluing Solid Hardwood Shorties, Mortise and Tenon, straight to the sub-floor, no nails? QUALIFIER: My dad and I did it 30 years ago, and it still looks great with minimal creaking. We glued directly to a bumpy stone floor. Now current installers tell me it can't be done, that YOU MUST lay down a proper sub-floor, yet we did it straight to stone 30 years ago with no ill effects. Am I overlooking anything? This is an upstairs unit, no flooding potential and I am (would like to) glue directly to a cork sub-floor which was laid down with plenty of Bostik. I know the shorties (unfinished by the way) are labor intensive, but I am the laborer so that does not bother me. Anyone with experience in this field, I would love to hear from you. John
