Will the 3M adhesive on my GPS holder come of my dashboard? I received a new Nextar GPS unit for Christmas. I also got a new VW Jetta a few months ago. I want to attach the GPS holder on my dash. It comes with a pad that has a 3M sticky on the back of the holder. Has anyone had any luck with this adhesive coming back off the dash?

Installing with 3M adhesive? I am installing something with 3M VHB (very high bond) adhesive tape. In a normal, dry application, this will require that the item is installed correctly the first time. That is difficult because it curves. When I set it down, I need to have the ability to move it so it aligns perfectly. Will having a solution of soap and water on the surface help? This will allow me to slide it around to attain a perfect alignment. Will this affect the integrity of the tape adhesive?

Where do i find 3M adhesive pads that come with the BOSE companion3 speakers for LCD mounting? I have the BOSE companion3 speakers - the 1st gen silver model. These originally came with the brackets and a set of 3M interlocking stickers. They come in pairs so one set sticks on the mount(attached to the speakers) and the other set sticks on the side of the LCD. How to prevent 3M 5200 sealant from drying? I like to use 3M 5200 adhesive/sealant for my small projects. It comes in small 3oz tubes, similar to silicone caulking. It's still to much for most of my boat projects, so I'm trying keep using the same tube trough the season. What kind of adhesive should I use for mounting Hockney-style assemblages? On the last few I've tried, I used 3M Photo Mount Spray Adhesive, but I found that it took forever to dry, that it could be messy, and that even after drying, it didn't hold very well, all very negative things when one's trying to layer a bunch of prints over/on top of one another. bonding oak wood pieces to larger wood ornament. use adhesive that came with it, or use wood or super glue? The smaller oak wood pieces are backed with 3M 200MP Adhesive. My 3m tabs left behind sticky stuff. How do I get it off? I put up some pictures on my window using the 3m poster tabs and when I took them down the tabs left behind an adhesive residue. what 3m adesive is this? i am restoring a chevy luv pick up truck and i just received a new dash pad for it. my 94 cad.deville faux soft top is deteriorating. Can I remove it and will it be painted beneath? 94 deville has a cloth top that is coming loose ,badly. I have lifted the cloth and used 3m spray adhesive but it won't hold .Would like to just plain remove the cloth,however am afraid of what I'll find beneath. How do you hang something from a ceiling without making a hole? Recently, I bought a disco ball for my friend, who lives in a dorm room. Therefore, I don't think that he can drill a hole in the ceiling. Attached to the ball is a ring, and nothing more. Is there any adhesive hook (a 3m type product, for instance) that sticks to a horizontal surface (i.e. ceiling) to hang something vertically? Any suggestions welcome! I certainly don't want him to incur fines for drilling a hole in the ceiling. The disco ball is only about 3lbs, so it's not that hard to keep up.
Can you sew a vinyl piece to another vinyl piece? I was looking for a 'cheap fix' to repair my motorcycle seat. The sides of seat are still good, it is the top that is bad. Could it be possible to sew a piece of vinyl to existing vinyl or better yet does anyone know of a good adhesive for vinyl to vinyl that won't pull apart when sat on? Best automotive glue out htere is? I added a new cold air intake system to my car. I want to get a hood scoop to get more air into the engine area so it can basically suck it up. The only ones I see out there are the 3M adhesive kinds. I am looking for one that is black or balck fiberglass and gets mounted on with screws. The way I see it is you can make the hole for hte scoop and predrill the holes for the screws. Then you lay the weatherproof sort of grommet, forgot of the word, and on top the scoop. Then you just twist on the rest and you get something safer than a piece of platsic or metal held on by a glue. I am scared that someone would rip it off or the seal won't be that great and when it rains I get water into my engine. My car is a hyundai elantra 04.

spray adhesive for stenciling? I have a pretty delicate stencil that I want to use to stencil with spray paint onto a piece of white paper. The best way I know of is to use spray adhesive to keep it down. I've used it before while stenciling onto a backpack and it worked great but I'm afraid using spray adhesive (I have 3M) would leave a yellow residue on the white background. What other options do I have to keep the stencil down? And if spray adhesive is still the best choice, then what can I do to prevent residue? Maybe there's a better adhesive I should use?

Anyone with feedback on 3M tape attachable window visors? What's the best adhesive to use for memorabilia? O.K. I know I shouldn't glue but sleeve it, however I'm am putting back together a scrapbook (that was glued) for an old organization with limited funds. Mostly it's comprised of news articles & photos of their old days. Personally I have used rubber cement for my recipe cards and found that it dried up and came apart. I've considered spray adhesive, but that could be alot of inhaling (yuk!), and I'm down to (possibly) regular white glue or good old 3M Magic Tape. What do you artists use to attach to mat boards? And how about you scrapbookers? Any collectors with suggestions? My goal is to get it together, KEEP it together, but considering the aging--and will age more--papers. What brand of windshield should I rely on? For a '96 Monte Carlo.? My girlfriend busted her windshield, from a corner panel that fell of another rusted car hauled by a flatbed! How do I remove blue protective film covering from my clear acrylic basketball backboard.? Previous owner never installed or mounted this Porter Official size (6' x 3.5') clear acrylic basketball backboard and also never removed the blue protective film. I just purchased it from him for $50 (original price $1000+). I have been carefully scraping away with a razor; I have tried ammonia, bleach, mineral spirts, Goof-off, 3m adhesive release agent, soap/water, fire (grill fire starter), steel wool (too abrasive). Repair torn off bumper cover? I have a 2001 Toyota Camry CE that has had its front bumper cover torn off (caught on the edge by a chain link fence while in reverse). The holes for the screws on the top edge of the cover have all been torn through. My plan is to try to repair the torn screw holes in the bumper cover. I understand this bumper cover is made of thermoplastic olefin (TPO)-mainly polyethylene and polypropylene (reference found online) and won't bond well with many epoxies. I'm thinking of using 3M's DP-8005 adhesive for low-energy plastics ( http://multimedia.mmm.com/mws/mediawebserver.dyn?6666660Zjcf6lVs6EVs666M8oCOrrrrQ- ) such as TPOs and gluing a piece of another bumper cover over the torn part, drilling a hole, and reattaching the cover to the car. Does this seem workable? Strong enough? Any better ideas? I considered using a steel washer instead of the plastic but I'm concerned it won't bond as well to the cover as would a similar TPO material. Thanks!
What can I use to hang heavy paintings on a wall with no wall studs? I have seen the 3M Scotch removable adhesive tape and hooks, but those hold between 1-2 lbs. I need something that may be able to hold up to 20 lbs. I would like to put paintings and shelving on my wall, but I have virtually no wall studs and I've not been able to hang anything with screws or nails in most places unless it's a lb. or less, and even that has proven most difficult in much of the home. Also, I do want these to be removable, and not to leave too much damage to the wall, as it is wallpapered and would be more difficult to cover the damage. My only concern is that I live in a trailer home and the walls are paneling, do you think these Molly Anchors will work on that? Thank you all for your help! 1969 GMC truck? Where or what site will have the online fix it yourself repair or restoring a 1969 GMC truck? I'm trying to fix panel in cab. The panels are badley warped and won't stick anymore with any glue I've put on it. I went to a Kragen's auto shop and they said if you clean and dust free the medal. You can use a 3m super weatherstrip adhesive to the panel. It will hold panel up above you where it won't rest on top of your head while sitting in truck. Is that true? What should I use to hold panel in it place like it supossed to be? Remember this. I'm here asking any info. on how to fix it yourself. How would you hang vinyl album covers on a wall without nails? I'm trying to hang some of my vinyl albums up on my wall in their covers. Ideally, they will be hung side by side along the length of the wall. I've purchased several long u-shaped metal strips in hopes to create a sort of shelf to hold the albums in but am looking for a way to mount these strips without damaging the wall. Because I am doing this in a dorm room, nails are not an option and the several types of 3m picture hanging adhesives I've tried don't seem to be strong enough to support the weight. If anyone has any other non-damaging adhesives in mind or any other suggestions on how to hang these albums, I would greatly appreciate it.

My grips are slipping, what to do? I've had great luck with WD-40, haispray, and soapy water installing grips in the past. I've tried each with my new grips and they still slip. I even scuffed the bars under the grips with a ScotchBrite pad. Still slipping. I have some 3M Super 77 spray adhesive, but I'm afraid it will damage the grips...will it? Other solutions??? I meant haiRspray...typo...oops! Lock-ons aren't my idea of a good BMX grip. My bars haven't gotten wet. I love the feel of these grips more than any others I've used in my 32 years of riding. Just slipping....

Boat carpet seam joining? I recently had boat carpet installed, and done well. However, the dimensions the new boat jump seats(rear seats) I ordered did not come close enough to advertised length when assembled. I added on 2 1/2 inches of extra carpet length to ensure the carpet went under the seats. However, due to the seats being smaller than expected and were not assembled by then, one seat fell short of having carpet under it and another barely had enough under it. So in short, I am asking what is the best method to reduce or eliminate the appearance of a seam. Do you precut the extra piece with about 2 inches extra overlaping the previous edge, put the glue on the uncarpeted area, put the cut piece down, then cut at a 45 degree angle slightly over previous edge of the carpet to both edges? I know I will need 3M Blue 72 spray adhesive for this and I have enough spare carpet to get it done myself.
How can I hang a cabinet without screws or nails? I'm looking to hang a custom built cabinet for my BBQ tools outside, but I am not allowed by the housing manager to use anything that "degrades the structural integrity" of the house, ie. screws or nails. I live in Colorado, so we have all four seasons, with temperatures in the single to negative digits, and snow. What do have any suggestions on what I can use to hang the storage box? It isn't quite a flat surface, but more like: / / / where the panels are angled outward slightly, then cut back in about an inch to angle out again. I've been thinking of using picture wire to hang it, but do you know of any 3M or equivelent hook with adhesive that can withstand the temperature range and strength?

I bought those 3m Command Picture Hanger adhesives today and was wondering if I could use those right now? How about pushpins? The paintcan said to "wait 4 weeks for the paint to cure." How to prevent 3M 5200 sealant from drying? I like to use 3M 5200 adhesive/sealant for my small projects. It comes in small 3oz tubes, similar to silicone caulking. It's still to much for most of my boat projects, so I'm trying keep using the same tube trough the season. Except I was never able to close it well enough to prevent the remaining content from drying. Any suggestions?
