Is there an easier way to use adhesive remover, then the instructions on the back? I am trying to remove glue that is on top of my ceramic tiles on the floor of my bathroom. The glue is still sticky too. The problem is I removed plastic tiles that were on top of my ceramic tiles and their is glue residue on my ceramic tiles still. The instructions for the adhesive remover say to use a heavy plastic drop cloth and a paint roller. But my bathroom floor isn't that big. Maybe 4 feet by 4 feet. So I'm hoping there is a simpler way using maybe a cloth? Any help or suggestions are appreciated, thank you in advanced
what is the best vinyle adhesive remover? Iam doing my mother-in-law floor, whit vinyle tile and the glue is coming up what is the best cleaner for this job.
Can I seal over wallpaper glue to replaster? Okay, so we moved into a house built in the late 60's and the room my son picked was pink from the carpet to the ceiling. We removed the wallpaper, but the glue remained on the wall. We have used DIF and steam and sandpaper, and all sorts of different glue removers and they work a little, but are so much work that we only get about a 2 foot wide section done in a day. We are having a guy come in and spray a new coat of plaster on the walls when we are done. My question is....can we buy a sealant that we can just cover the glue and then have the plaster sprayed over it instead of months of scraping, rubbing, spraying, and headaches? Any knowledge based on experience would be most appreciated. Also, please keep in mind that I have tried DIF and other adhesive removers.
Anybody have experience with "Henry Easy Release Adhesive Remover" from LOWES? I"m trying to remove thick layer of carpet glue from concrete slab in order to prepare the slab for either painting or staining. They sell this stuff at Lowes and claim 1 quart yields 1.25 gallons of mixed product. They further claim that it will cover approximately 6 square yards. If it works, it is by far the cheapest solution for removing carpet glue. Anybody know anything about it?
How do I remove glue from that is ON TOP of ceramic tiles? I recently removed plastic tiles that I had, that were over ceramic tiles. Removing glue from a concrete porch? I am going to paint a concrete porch and the only thing keeping me is patches of glue left over from the astro turf that had been removed. i had found some 30 minute adhesive remover that makes the glue come up pretty well (along with the old paint) except the scraping is just too much of a job and not really that much remover comes in one can. so i have decided too just dip a paint brush in the adhesive remover and go over the glue patches and then give it hell with a power washer. i was just wondering if anyone might have some usefull tips and might know of some well working products i cound find a a local lowes store that might work better. I am also open to hearing other methods that might be easier, Thanks!

Alternative Wallpaper Adhesive Remover? I just peeled off a wallpaper from a wooden cabinet. Now I'm left with a sticky mess. The cabinet looks really nice, but has the leftover wallpaper adhesive all over it. Since the object it is on is wooden, sanding it down isn't an option. I don't have the time, or the money for that matter to buy commercial grade adhesive removers. What liquid can I use as an adhesive removing alternative that won't damage the wood and will take off the glue with some rubbing/scrubbing.
how do I remove ceramic tile adhesive from the wall? I removed old ceramic tile from my small 4x6 bathroom walls. The adhesive which I think was old glue that looks like peanut butter remains on the wall. What is the best way to remove it for a clean wall to be painted? I tried a little scraping with a putty knife but it didn't work too well. Is there some kind of adhesive remover? This is tile halfway up the walls on plaster walls in a 4x6 bathroom. I'd rather not tear down the walls and replace them or cover them with new drywall.
Adhesive screw head remover? Hi, i'm trying to remove a small (3mm diameter) philips head screw from a cell phone i'm trying to re-house. I remember hearing a few years ago about a material that acts like a glue between a screw driver and a screw, something along the lines of putting a bit of this adhesive stuff on the head of the screw, putting the screw driver in this stuff, and an amount of time later the screw driver is stuck to the screw head and you're able to unscrew the screw easily enough. Anyone know if this stuff is real, or if so what's it called ? Or would any metal to metal super glue do the same job ? Thanks for the help.

What's the best way to get glue off concrete floor from indoor/outdoor carpet then paint it to look like tile? We have taken out the carpet to find yellowish orange glue. It makes the surface of the concrete rough. The floor seeps when the air conditioner is off. We live on the central west coast of Florida. I have 2 large dogs, and 2 teenage boys. It's impossible to keep carpet clean, so I have choosen to paint the concrete to look like tile to match the rest of the house. We are having difficulty getting the glue up. We are beginners at home improvement and our budget is limited. We are using a adhesive remover but it doesn't seem to be working, the floor is still orange. Is this stained from the glue? How do we get the surface of the floor smooth?
How do we get dried fabric glue out of polyester? I bought a Polyester navy blue dress from JC Penny with rhinestone decorations on the front. I didn't realize till I had worn it at a wedding that there was dried glue next to the rhinestones in two spots and it is white mark about 1/4 inch. I can't take it back as it has been worn without a hassle. Also I really like the outfit . I tried adhesive remover, and finger nail polish and it remains. I tried washing it as the instructions say and it remains. Is there any way to remove it? It probably came from the factory and was never caught.
Can a power sander get paint and adhesive off of Concrete floors?? We are going to stain our kitchen floor which is concrete/cement. We are trying to prepare the floor to stain it, the floor previously had vinyl flooring on it so now the concrete has glue and also paint all over it. We tried the old fashioned way of putting an adhesive remover on it, letting it set and scraping it off with a razor blade. Well it doesnt exactly get everything off and it is going to take FOREVER to do, this kitchen is huge. So i was wondering if a Power sander that you can use while standing up would do the job. Except a clerk at Lowe's told us that using a sander will open the pores of the concrete and then when we go to stain it , it will not go on right??? Any suggestions would be awesome.
How do you get carpet glue off of wood? We decided to tear the carpet of of the stairs in our house, and there's a huge amount of carpet glue on the stairs now, Is there some kind of liquid chemical stuff that would work to help peel it off? What can I use to quickly get dried-on glue from my hard wood floors? Over the last week I've tried mineral spirits, the odors are terrible. Then there was the adhesive remover - yeah, it didn't work either - well it did manage to bubble up the plastic coating on the cheapy baseboard we have. Good thing I wanna replace it anyway Then came the goo-gone as a result of an answerer here - nope, no luck there I bought Bostik's adhesive remover wipes at $18, but it takes a combination of wiping and scrubbing to get the floors clean. I bought the no odor mineral spirits and it works if I rub and rub and rub Is there anything, anything, anything that I can use to quickly get the glue off? I have 400 sq ft of floors that are covered in glue. *SIGH* MV - just for future reference - when you're installing wood floors on concrete, you glue it down.
How to remove industrial strength adhesive? Our house was renovated in a hurry by the previous owners. To save time they put up textured wall boards. We recently tore them down only to discover that they had been put up with the strongest glue currently sold at the home depot (or at least that's what the guy thought it was) We're hoping to paint the walls sometime in the near future. So far we have tried adhesive remover which is tedious and isn't working too well. Any ideas aside from tearing down the actual walls?
Looking to remove glue from hard wood floors that won't damage finish.? I've tried mineral spirits - with a lot of rubbing the glue comes off, but the odors are horrible. I have an adhesive remover -although it doesn't damage the finish, you have to leave it sit for 30 minutes and again the smell is unbearable. Anything I can use that WON'T make me feel sick and won't damage the floors?
Need to get strong glue off of cement, suggestions? I am installing pergo in my sunroom. The installers took off the carpet and it was a pain in the butt to get it off. There is a very strong adhesive I think it's outdoor carpet glue. I applied some real strong glue remover, and it didn't do anything. My next step is muratic acid. What do you think will work? Do you think muratic acid will do the trick?

how do you remove 30 year old glue?? My sister and I are trying to repaint my mom's kitchen. we removed the nasty old laminate that had covered the wall for almost 30 years, but the glue that held the tile on sticks much better to the wall than it did to the plastic tile stuff. We have already tried actual adhesive remover and scraping and it won't budge, what can we do to get it off??

Can I glue down Engineered Hardwoods over partially scraped linoleum glue? We removed the linoleum in our entryway and kitchen, which was glued to the concrete slab. We plan on replacing it with glued-down engineered hardwoods. I have spent HOURS scraping the linoleum glue off, and have tried using boiling water, a heat gun, and adhesive remover (which did not work at all). I have been able to get move of the glue off using water, but there is still a lot, particularly around the edges of the room, that won't come off completely. I have managed to chip away enough in these areas so that some concrete is exposed, and I am wondering if I need to get it all off before putting down the hardwoods. The glue is not very thick, if that makes any difference. Please only respond if you actually have experiencing in flooring. Thanks! have not tried a sander. that was my next option, but only if everyone says i have to get all the glue off. i really don't want to spend the time or money renting a sander. Also, we were planning to use Bostick's Best, which works as a glue and moisture barrier in one
Masking tape glue residue on caravan body and plastic windows? Any motor body or adhesive specialists out there who can help. Did a paint job on my touring caravan but had to leave it due to the weather. Left it masked up for over 2 weeks and and when I took it off the glue remained on both the bodywork and the plastic windows. I have tried white spirit, detergent and even that branded "Sticky Stuff Remover" which guarantees to shift anything. No joy - the glue is rock hard and immovable.

How do you open an urn? My Father passed away recently and I got the urn back from the mortuary. I'm supposed to leav in a few days to go spred his ashes and can't seem to get this thing open. Prank: adhesive on nails? I want to make a prank to my girlfriend, when she is sleeping I'll paint her toenails a color that she hates (most probably yellow) but I'd like to make it "immune" to nail polish remover or anything so she has trouble taking it off. Some kind of adhesive on the nails maybe? Epoxy glue? Any ideas? Franny's idea would work really well I guess, but I live outside the US, I've searched but I can't get my hands on a permanent yellow hair dye... All I could find were semi-permanent ones and I don't want to do a crappy job, I don't want her to take it off just like that :) What I was thinking instead was to use a yellow nail polish and then some other transparent (clear) coat of a substance that would bond with the nail somehow and of course be acetone resistant..! P.S. She probably will hate me for this, but I can't help it, I just have to try ;)

false lashes destroying real ones? What can I do to remove the remainder of the car emblem adhesive? I am super sad about this. I tried to remove my car's emblem and all the adhesive wouldn't come off. I tried everything including goo-gone, magic eraser, nail polish remover, and plenty more. Seeing that it wouldn't come off, I decided to put the emblem back on using super glue. 10 minutes later, the emblem fell off and the super glue got everywhere, making the mess on my car even worse. Is there absolutely anything I can do to remove this? Or am I stuck with going to an auto touch up shop. I am desperate right now to get rid of it, because it is a new car. here is the picture of it : http://i53.tinypic.com/10yjbxs.jpg And if i were to take it to an auto repair/touch up shop, how much would it approximately be to repair something like that? Thank you!!!
removing superglue from a gold, carnelian and mother of pearl ring? I have a yin yang ring that I love but one of the stones fell out. I panicked about losing the stone and super glued the stone back in. Now I am worried about wearing it like this and want to remove the superglue and use a gemstone safe adhesive. Is nail polish remover safe for gemstones?
How can I remove laminate from a cedar chest? I have a nice cedar chest that is covered in laminate. The laminate is fairly thick, we have tried chiseling the laminate away, but can only get a little off the corners. I also tried heating it, but the laminate is too thick for the heat to make it through to the glue. I have also tried a commercial adhesive remover, but once again the laminate was too thick to be penetrated. Is sanding it down to the cedar my only option left at this point? The veneer thing makes sense. I think that's probably what I'm up against. I wanted to get down to the cedar and just sand it down and varnish over it. I wanted the outside to be the pretty cedar like on the inside.
Help with removing difficult eyelash glue!? I have Ardell LashTite Adhesive stuck on a patch of my eyelashes. It has been there for a few weeks now. Got a funny true story? Someone wrote me about the man who sat on a Home Depot toilet seat and couldn't get up because the seat had glue on it! Now isn't that funny? I told her they should have used a spatula since he was at Home Depot, and she wrote back and said they should have used adhesive remover. We had so much fun with that. Got a crack up of a story to tell??
is my concrete slab ready for tile? (pics)? i am looking to tile my entry foyer. originally it had tile that i scraped up. only a little bit of mortar was left. bamboo floors were then installed by gluing the planks directly to the slab. we have decided that we want to tile the entry foyer again to break up the wood flooring. so far i have ripped all the planks up and removed as much of the glue as i possibly could. i spent a good 7hours yesterday with adhesive remover, razor scrapes, floor scrapes, hot water, etc... i am at the point where i want to start tiling and im not 100% sure i got enough of the glue off the ground. please click on the links to the pictures i took of the floor and let me know if you think the floor is ready or if i need to continue to get more of the glue off. im guessing if i have to get more glue off, a concrete sander is my next and only option. all help is greatly appreciated. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v633/atom631/SANY0018.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v633/atom631/SANY0019.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v633/atom631/SANY0020.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v633/atom631/SANY0021.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v633/atom631/SANY0022.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v633/atom631/SANY0023.jpg
Eye Lash Extensions-Beware? This is more of a FYI, a very important message I learned today. I allowed a friend of a friend to apply individual lash extensions yesterday. Today I was unable to remove them (had them placed for a night out) only to find, they were put on with a superglue lash adhesive. After hours of soaking in oil, water, and adhesive remover, I now have only a few of my lashes left and it's horrible. PLEASE ask questions before allowing anyone to glue something to your lashes. It was very neglectful on my part and I hope this helps someone who is thinking about it.
Help me decide: false lashes or waterproof mascara for a week? I'm going on a trip to Europe with my school in March, and was thinking about bringing waterproof mascara for the plane and for the week... But I last time I used waterproof mascara in Mexico (for a week), my lashes got sooo dry, and it always flaked and was hard to remove, which resulted in me being too hard on my eyes. (And yes, I did use an oil based remover!) I really don't want to be walking around everywhere trying to enjoy myself when my makeup is driving me crazy! Anyways, I've noticed that some people use false lashes more than once (like, on an everyday bases) instead of mascara, and I thought that it might be better to use false lashes on the plane (and for that week) instead of waterproof mascara. (Even if I choose false lashes, I probably will end up bringing regular mascara as well...) Oh! And if I bring a small eyelash adhesive glue in my carry-on, do you think they would take it away? Any thoughts or suggestions would be nice.

I have done something really silly (I think!) ...? I purchased an ipod lapjack - which is an adhesive film with a printed design on that you stick on the ipod for decoration. That was great and everyone loved it. Now I bought another one and was taking the old one off. It left a sticky/gluey type layer. I decided to use nail polish remover which is what I normally use for getting the glue left from labels, off new dishes and stuff. There was never a problem with that but now I think I have ruined my ipod - the screen is all streaky and you can see the lines in the direction I rubbed the nail polish remover on. Is there anything I can do????

why are my hands so sticky? for the last two days my hand have been feeling extremely weird, so much so that it is driving me insane. I feel like someone with OCD, and i assure you i am not. I don't know how exactly it started, but i do remember i was on the computer and my fingers kinda stuck to the mouse. The sticky feel was not like glue, it was more like a tacky feel, no actually sticking, its like a rubbery friction. i washed my hands and the mouse with dish soap, antibacterial soap, and mechanics hand cleaner. Nothing worked, so i soaked my hands with 70% rubbing alcohol, and cleaned my mouse with it to. Again no results. i had some really strong adhesive remover called Oops, and put some on a pad and cleaned the mouse with it. As dangerous as it is i also squirted some on my hands and rubbed them together for 20 secs then rinsed. nothing still works. I got on my ps3 because the mouse was driving crazy and the stickiness rubbed off onto the controller. dust seems to cling to the controller, but can be blown off with a strong puff. I wore latex gloves for several hours and my hands feel moist but dont appear to be sweating even after playing my ps3 with them on. The gloves do not contain that drying powder either, my hands would normally sweat in the gloves after an hour. I read online for possible answers, only thing that came up is mold, allergy, or something i ate might have caused my sweat glands to "malfunction". I don't have any history of mold in my house(last inspections was 2 years ago). Im only allergic to some type of grass and all it does is give me rash. i ate steak and a microwave pizza that day, nothing ordinary for me. I know it sounds crazy but its real, i would be happy if you know a solution, happier if you know the cause.
Thanks!
