How do you get carpet glue off of wood? We decided to tear the carpet of of the stairs in our house, and there's a huge amount of carpet glue on the stairs now, Is there some kind of liquid chemical stuff that would work to help peel it off? It's pretty gummy at room temperature, but if we sand it it just gunks up the sander. Any suggestions? Would adhesive remover work?
What type of glue remover do I use for this? I have linoleum floors in my bathroom. I put down those peel and stick carpet squares. I want to pull the carpet tiles out, but know there will be some glue left on the linoleum. I don't want to use anything too powerful. What can I use? Thanks.
Removing Carpet Glue from linoleum? We have a hallway in our house, where you come in the back door. They're used to be linoleum but the people before us put down carpet. They also did that in an adjoining bathroom. We removed the carpet from the bathroom, but the glue from the carpet was a nightmare to get off. We aren't worried about the stains it will leave, we are putting down linoleum tiles over it, but the glue has to come off or else it will mess up the new. We want to take up the carpet in the hallway now, so what I am wanting is something to get the glue off of the linoleum easily. Maybe something such as a home-made solvent, that involves less scrubbing. The glue remover from the stores did practically nothing, so I am looking for an alternative. Any advice is welcome, thanks. Sorry, its not foam backed, just some cheap carpet, like people use in basements and such
Need to get strong glue off of cement, suggestions? I am installing pergo in my sunroom. The installers took off the carpet and it was a pain in the butt to get it off. There is a very strong adhesive I think it's outdoor carpet glue. I applied some real strong glue remover, and it didn't do anything. My next step is muratic acid. What do you think will work? Do you think muratic acid will do the trick?
What's the best way to get glue off concrete floor from indoor/outdoor carpet then paint it to look like tile? We have taken out the carpet to find yellowish orange glue. It makes the surface of the concrete rough. The floor seeps when the air conditioner is off. We live on the central west coast of Florida. I have 2 large dogs, and 2 teenage boys. It's impossible to keep carpet clean, so I have choosen to paint the concrete to look like tile to match the rest of the house. We are having difficulty getting the glue up. We are beginners at home improvement and our budget is limited. We are using a adhesive remover but it doesn't seem to be working, the floor is still orange. Is this stained from the glue? How do we get the surface of the floor smooth?

Can I seal over wallpaper glue to replaster? Okay, so we moved into a house built in the late 60's and the room my son picked was pink from the carpet to the ceiling. We removed the wallpaper, but the glue remained on the wall. We have used DIF and steam and sandpaper, and all sorts of different glue removers and they work a little, but are so much work that we only get about a 2 foot wide section done in a day. We are having a guy come in and spray a new coat of plaster on the walls when we are done. My question is....can we buy a sealant that we can just cover the glue and then have the plaster sprayed over it instead of months of scraping, rubbing, spraying, and headaches? Any knowledge based on experience would be most appreciated. Also, please keep in mind that I have tried DIF and other adhesive removers.
What is best to remove glue ? I have removed carpets on a marble floor. I had used two two sided strip stickers to hold them in place. I have removed the strips witha hot gun. There is still some glue stuck to the marble. I have used laquer thinner and contact glue remover but it did not help much.
Anybody have experience with "Henry Easy Release Adhesive Remover" from LOWES? I"m trying to remove thick layer of carpet glue from concrete slab in order to prepare the slab for either painting or staining. They sell this stuff at Lowes and claim 1 quart yields 1.25 gallons of mixed product. They further claim that it will cover approximately 6 square yards. If it works, it is by far the cheapest solution for removing carpet glue. Anybody know anything about it?

acid, base or neutral? Need to know if these things are acids, bases or neutral. Also need to know what color red AND blue litmus turns in this substance. All of this is done in a red cabbage indicator: lemon juice, apple juice, lemonade, bi-carb soda, vanilla essence, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, carpet cleaner, ammonia, glue, nail polish remover. Need 20... so it would be great if you could think of some more...
