Hot glue guns - low temp/ High temp - What's the difference?

Not sure what each is best for. Why are there two types. i think I can figure out that one is hotter than the other ;) What projects does High temp work best on and what is the Low temp recomended for. Is High temp better because it will be harder when it cools down? Thanks for anyone who really knows and can advise :)

  1. The low temp glue guns melt the glue at a lower temperature than the high temp glue guns. But here's the kicker: The high temp glue guns melt the glue at a higher temp than the low temp glue guns! SORRY, I couldn't resist. Just trying to illustrate some of the absurd answers found here. Here's some relevant info:
  2. It depends on what you are using it for...for crafts, I always use a low temp. It is safer to use (children can operate with adult supervison) and lets me still manipulate whatever I am working on. For professional use like putting a cabinet together, you might use the higher temp. Both temperatures will melt the glue. Also, the higher temp gun can melt certain materials...foam, plastic, etc... Good luck!
  3. basically it determines the temperature of the glue when it comes out High means it comes out very hot and is more liquidy, but it can burn you Low means it comes out low temp, so it will dry quickly, but won't hurt you that bad
  4. i'nm not sure but i think it melts in high temp and sticks better
