Hot Glue Gun not Grabbing Glue?

I have a hot glue gun that I use all the time for various things, but one problem with it is that it never seems to wanna grab the glue stick, so I always end up pushing it in manually. I was wondering what I could do to make it grab them? I know that it's the right glue stick and everything, it just doesn't seem to wanna grab them.

1. every glue gun i've used, i've always had to put the glue in manually.
2. The gun should begin to grab a new stick once it's in a little of the way (if not, your gun may be broken inside). I always just use the previous glue stick till there's about 3/4" or so area left blank in the glue gun, then push in the new one --grabs fine then. HTH, Diane B.
