Gluesticks

What kind of glue should I use to fix broken glass in a lamp? It's right above the bulb and gets very hot.

It's a desk lamp with a 25 watt halogen bulb--the glass dome above the bulb has broken into three pieces. It gets too hot to touch--I want to make sure the glue doesn't melt, give off toxic fumes, etc. Thanks for any recommendations!

  1. I would probably look at a two part epoxy. You should be able to pick it up in any hardware store or a Walmart or store like that. I would probably get epoxy that dries clear. Read it before you buy and make sure it will do what you want.
  2. Seriously, super glue. Epoxy glues are no good with heat. We use heat to soften expoxies when it has to be removed.
  3. I used 2 part epoxy glue to fix a saucepan with a hole in the bottom.....It has now been in use for two years since the repair.
