Can you seal a small cut with super glue?
I keep getting these small cuts where my nails grow next to the skin on my thumbs and they usually start hurting and can't heal fast because of all the element exposure.

- I'm sure it's not recommended and it will probably sting but I'd try it. What the hey?
- yes you can. they even sell a type of clear liquid bandaid. but i would use lotion.
- Yes! I do it and so does my sister. It doesn't hurt and actually it heals faster
- "Super Glue" was originally created as a surgical adhesive! It was much stronger and more difficult to remove but basically the same material that is in super glue now. Bert
- that's what super glue was invented for in the first place or wrap them with a tape [will soften the skin ]
- The answer is yes. And as a matter of fact some emergency rooms use super glue as an alternative to sutures. Theirs is medical grade which is merely the price of the glue not content. One thing to remember is that the super glue sets with pressure, and you should be sure to clean the wound before gluing since any contaminates will be sealed in when you do the gluing. If at all possible you should wait for bleeding to stop before gluing the wound and alcohol cleans well and dries up quickly. The best gluing technique I have found is to apply the glue and then press the glue against a piece of teflon to get the glue to set. Most people don't keep pieces of teflon lying around but a teflon coated pan works well. The glue doesn't stick to the teflon and prevents having your fingers being glued to the wound. Also the pain almost completely disappears as soon as the glue is set. If you get too much on it is easy to trim up the job with a nail file. GL ☺ ☺
- You can use super glue. I do it all the time. For the type of cuts or splits your talking about, I wrap it with a band aid. Wet the band aid and then keep it damp for about three days. Once your skin swells (like when your in the water a long time), the pain goes away and the split heals much quicker. Trust me, this works great! Hope this helps.
