Gluesticks

Can I use a hot glue gun to repair a metal bracelet?

I have this cuff bracelet that has a metal bezel on it. The bezel came off and I want to fix it. it has a flat surface on the back. Can I just glue it back on with a hot glue gun?

  1. Yeah but don't expect it to hold terribly well.
  2. it might be ahrd..might just come off again... try soldering? maybe that will work =)
  3. Of course you can! Make sure not to BURN YOUR FACE OFF though.
  4. Take it to any jewelry store and they will fix it for you. Don't use a glue gun its too messy.
  5. No, chemically hotglue does not glue to metal. The glue has to have pres to grip to. If your do not want to solder your bracelet back together, I would try a clear apoxy, You can buy this at your local hardware store.
  6. you can but dont expect it to hold, the ONLY way to repair , effectively i mean, is to sauter (melting the metals together) it. Even the bracelet is just costume or junk jewelry, then you can, but hot glue doesnt work well on metal.
  7. yes but be careful hot glue is HOT.
  8. You can, but that may not be the best adhesive to fix metal to metal. There are specialty glues (think: epoxy) that might do better to adhere metal to metal. You'll find that the glue gun fix will break off again after not too long. The most permanent fix, of course, is to go to a jeweler and have them solder it back on. Might not even be very expensive, actually, depending on what metal your bracelet is made from.
  9. no hot glue won't hold up either you can try soldering yourself or take to a jeweler and have them fix it some will fix it while you wait
  10. it will not hold!!!! hot glue is for crafts not metal get some jb weld and a little dab will do ya just fine it actually dries harder than steel, and its only maybe 4 dollars and you only need the amount of a water drop
  11. don't use hot glue. use krazy glue. if its really worth it take it to the shop.
  12. Solder would work better.
  13. For a metal to metal joint, you'd probably be best using an epoxy. Hot glue will only be a temporary fix. Don't try to solder it together unless you have experience in soldering and know what kinds of metal are really involved. There's a big difference between soldering steel (pretty hard), copper (pretty easy) or some kind of special alloy in which case you might end up melting parts of it.
