is it true that super glue can be used to heal cuts?

someone mentioned it, and i thought it was a pretty crazy idea at the time but now im wondering if it really does work.

  1. Don't super glu a fork to your face.
  2. as a temporary fix.
  3. Absolutely true, in fact that was one of superglue's original applications as a battlefield kit for sealing cuts. edit* Tammy is half-right, hospitals use Durabond which is virtually identical to normal superglue except that it doesn't sting as much. Superglue is quite safe to use on small cuts. http://adventuresinwoodworking.com/2008/05/09/super-glue-safe-for-treating-cuts/
  4. u don't poor it into the cut its more like to close the cut to slow the bleeding while you get it sorted properly, where i work we use it if we get a cut with the stanley knifes because their normally quite deep, just push the cut together and put abit over it. =)
  5. don't do that!!! Emergency rooms use a type of glue called Durabond, I believe..instead of suture (stitches) on some cuts. But it isn't exactly like super glue I don't think..
  6. ye theres some special medical super glue that they use sometimes instead of stitches, last year i had a cut to my head, wasnt really big but was bleeding loads and they just used some medical glue and it works just like stitches but u dont ave the big marks left over hope that helps :D
  7. I heard that story too. Maybe you can try it.
  8. No That will just poisen your blood eww Maybe your spit can
  9. Ive never heard that before but can sorta see the logic behind it, don't think ill be trying it though.
  10. Some cuts are closed using "glue" this is done in hospitals and it is not done with a tube of super glue
  11. Yes you can. In emergency situations you can superglue wounds together. The only problem is that you need to know what you are doing otherwise the scare that is left can be an issue especially if it is a face wound. Hospitals use a glue instead of stitches in some circumstances. You have to stem the blood flow or the glue can not adhere.
  12. Superglue was pretty much invented so it could be used on the battlefield - The World Wars mainly, I think. That way the soldiers' wounds could be temporarily healed, or sealed, until they could be transported to a hospital, or doctor.
  13. Not to heal but to SEAL them.
  14. Yes, a medical variety is commonly used for scalp wounds. It was developed during the Vietnam war.
