What can you use to put a broken taillight back in place?

What can you use to put a broken taillight back in place until I find replacement? I used loctite to glue a broken taillight back in place.. It seems to hold for now.. How long will this hold? Anything else recommened?/ Is loctite just like super glue? only the red lens came off... i used super glue loctite on it.. its just like super glue but different brand... It holds now but should i remove it to put on that jb weld paste mentioned below?

  1. duct tape
  2. Loctite is for screws and nails. It is a type of glue, but it only works up to a certain amount of torque or force (after all, it ain't permannent). I suggest duct tape. It'll look like ****, but using glue may rip other parts you need later to do it properly. --- Kasey C, PC guru since Apple II days Oops. My brain just hit a bad sector.
  3. there is a red tape that is used for this problem, but it will not pass inspection
  4. a new one
  5. Sounds like the mounting on the back side broke? If that's the case I would recommend the epoxy that's in a double barrel syringe looking dispensor. It's a two part epoxy that squeezes equal amounts out of the two tubes that are connected and you mix the two together with a toothpick or whatnot. It normally sets up in about 5 minutes and is less than 5 dollars. Loctite is just a brand anymore. They sell super glue, epoxies like I mentioned, etc. If you used regular good ol loctite that is meant to hold bolts in place it's not gonna hold. But then again, you didn't mention exactly what you're trying to glue back on?? Did the red lens pop off and you can see the bulb and stuff, or did the whole assembly come out and the mounting posts etc break off? Either way, the two part epoxy will do it for you, I would bet on it.
  6. Loctite is my favorite brands of "super glue". It is much better then the office supply store brands. It is an excellent glue for the type of repair you made. It dissolves a small layer of the plastic which then creates a nice "weld" once it dries.
