Gluesticks

How do I remove super glue from my car bodywork?

I was trying to stick the wing mirror back on after a feral chav snapped it off and the super glue ran down the outside surface of the door. I don't want to damage the paintwork

  1. Try "goo gone" or any other type of "goo" remover.
  2. then leave it alone... you could try Tcut or farecla cutting paste and LOTS of water, or you really risk damaging the surrounding paint... live with it, and buy another mirror, superglue is a waste of time, the stuff we use is 15 quid a tube 15mls.. and we use it on articulated lorries...
  3. you need some superglue bond breaker, your friendly local engineer's merchant should stock it, and if not, should be able to get it, or try a pharmacy, they sometimes stock it (silly people stick their hands together)
  4. you have to strip it to the bodywork im afraid you wont be able to remove it without taking paintwork
  5. It's unlikely that you wll get the superglue off without paint damage. The best type of glue for the job would have been a 2 pack epoxy resin / Araldite. Doesn't run about like superglue and would be much stronger. The superglue is probably going to snap off again as it's brittle. A second hand mirror will work better.
