my 94 cad.deville faux soft top is deteriorating. Can I remove it and will it be painted beneath?
94 deville has a cloth top that is coming loose ,badly. I have lifted the cloth and used 3m spray adhesive but it won't hold .Would like to just plain remove the cloth, however am afraid of what I'll find beneath. I know I'll probably have to have roof painted. Pretty soon cloth will rip of by its self. Rest of car is very nice. Any ideas? and how would I remove the factory contact glue around the edges?

- It might have some paint under but I doubt it will be finish paint. If you're willing to do the prep work of stripping and sanding, you could probably get a cheap price to paint it. But I think you will have to sand to metal and prime and paint.
- Those tops were installed over a primer base coat. You can pull the material off and you will have the adhesive left which will need to be sanded off. You can carefully do this with an orbital sander and a bit of time, then prime immediately after cleaning. Get her painted asap or she will rust even with primer on her.
