How can I remove super Glue from my glasses?
I was trying to fix my brothers glasses and I got quite a bit of glue on them. Is there anything I can do? I also got it on my oak table...Please help!!!

- I use nail polish remover to get Super Glue off of stuff
- I would say get Gugone.. or Googone. It's called something like that but I know for a fact that it works great. (Gooobegone?)
- glasses wash or bleach. Like my person? <(:-))->-<
- there is no real great answer but a razor blade and some solvent like acetone might do the job
- Fine sandpaper.Remove the rest with hot water and vinegar.
- you can use paint thinner on your glasses, it takes anything off. but i dont suggest you use it on your oak table. it might take the varnish off of it. Good luck!
- Fingernail polish remover. Take it easy on the oak table, though.
- I don't think you can get that off of glasses. The same thing happened to my mom. Those glasses got chunked in the trash because nothing that we tried would work. Sorry, but the same thing probably goes for your oak table. Super glue was meant to last. I had a tube of it leak all over my hands. It took me the better part of a day to get it off. And even then I had most of my skin removed. Good luck.
- WD-40! Over 2000 uses. Works like a charm!
- Goof Off is made specifically to remove glue and things like paint, etc... If Super Glue didn't work, Goop may work. I use it all the time around the house. It's not like Crazy Glue. It's clear and goopy and bonds very very strong. It's at the Home Depot.
- WHOA... be careful with Acetone! It will work great on glass, but your brothers glasses & frame might actually be plastic. Acetone will melt plastics.
- I believe super glue will etch glass ,and acetone will definitely destroy plastic.
- samantha, if the lenses are GLASS you can use an ACETONE based nail polish remover. but i would try a sharp razor blade first. if they are plastic, only try a sharp razor blade, held at an angle that won't dig into the plastic. it should pop the glue right off. never use sandpaper on glass!
- Whoa...first you have to know what material the lenses are made of. If it's glass or regular plastic, you can use straight acetone to remove the glue, but if it's polycarbonate or hi-index plastic, soak the lenses in alcohol for at least 5 minutes. Acetone will crack poly and hi-index lenses. If you got the glasses at one of the chain stores, such as Lenscrafters, Eyemasters, Sears, it almost is a guarantee it is polycarbonate. If unsure, take the glasses to a reputable optician to remove the glue. Also, as you have found out, don't ever use glue on eyewear. Certain frame materials won't hold at all with superglue.
