How do you get crazy glue or super glue stains out of granite countertops?
I recently helped my daughter with her art project which involved super glue and paper. We placed the paper with the super/crazy glue on the granite countertop for a few days and when we picked it up, it looks as though the glue left stains where it seeped through the paper. They aren't big pieces of glue so I can't scrape it off. It looks like it either dried the countertop or left a stain. I have no idea how to get it out without damaging it. Please help!

- well, acetone dissolves super glue.. you can probably use nail polish remover to dissolve it. as some removers contain acetone.
- You'll want to use acetone, but you really should use 100% pure acetone and not "finger nail polish remover". True this has acetone in it, but often it has other ingredients that have been known to etch stone. This is not too risky on granite since granite almost never etches, but just better to use straight acetone (which won't damage granite or any stone) and it's cheap. Soak the glue spot in acetone for 5-10 minutes and use a soft-bristle brush to scrub away. If real stubborn, keep soaking and use a razor blade to gently remove the glue. Since you left it overnight, it is possible the glue got into the pores below the surface and stained or will attract dirt/oil and produce a stain in the future. Stains must be handled differently than surface spots. A stain can't be removed using common cleaning methods. You'll have to use a special procedure that is determined by what substance is causing the stain. You'll find info on how to remove stains in granite and marble at the first source link below and about cleaning granite countertops in general at the second source.
