Can you use super glue to close a cut on a dog's paw pad?
The cut is about one half inch long.

- No.
- Only if you have the medical super glue that vets use. And then only if its been properly disinfected and you're 100% positive there's nothing in it. IMO, a cut on a dog's pad that's that large needs suturing - from the vet, of course.
- NO Way. You should visit a Vet Doctor and than buy those dog boots: http://www.scruffmacduff.co.uk/dog-boots.html
- Yes, but it can be dangerous and it does sting at first... If it ends up splitting open again it will take part of the skin with it and will be VERY painful and hard to fix. Just wrap it up with gauze or a long piece of cloth and use a little tape to hold it, i like electical black tape but surgical tape or a small piece of duct tape works too...
- I would go to the vets with this. I have known in an emergency someone use superglue, you are right, much to the owners horror, but it worked and the bleed stopped. But I wouldn't risk it, not unless my dog was in danger of bleeding to death.
- Keep super glue away from your dog, if he licks it off it will go into his stomach and then expand and have to be surgically removed. I saw an article on this and they think their might be something in the smell or taste to super glue dogs like because they are having alot of cases where dogs need super glue removed from their stomachs.
- Use the liquid bandage that you can buy at Wal-mart (for people). Paint on and blow on it to dry. We use for closing cuts in working dogs.
- I've used the Super Glue that one finds in the Hardware Stores to close up my hand with no issues whatsoever. Works just as well as the surgical glue that the vet used on my dogs neutering site. Just make sure the wound is thoroughly cleaned out before applying the glue.
- No! He needs to go to the vet! His cut could be infected and you wouldnt know it.
