How do colored glue sticks dry clear?

1. Don't know for sure but it may be the same principle as the "invisible pens" used for quilting and sewing. There are two types...one whose marks simply disappear after exposure to the air after a short while, and one whose marks disappear after water is applied. I assume that the first one just has a highly-fugitive colorant in it (some colorants/pigments/dyes are more "permanent" than others), and is probably broken down quickly when just exposed to UV light or to air.
