Heat mat for reptile wont stick to glass?

I have a heat mat for my pet but it keeps unsticking and falling, what can i use to help it stick better? ( iv tried tape) can i use silicone/hot glue gun? Or will it just like melt the silicone too? Its an 8 watt mat .

  1. Try using a Blow dryer on High heat to help warm up the adhesive on the Heat mat,This may work and if it does not,try using Duct tape rolled up in circles so both sides stick to the mat and the Tank floor, then use sand or rocks to help it to keep it down If you use a glue gun it wont come off if your gonna use the tank for another type of animal
  2. You can use a sheet of Plexiglas to hold it on and then tape that on. Actually corrugated plastic is much cheaper and easier to cut. Neither will melt under normal temperature usage. In fact, Silicone shouldn't either. I prefer using electrical tape+corrugated plastic because it is reusable. Most of my tanks are custom now with the bottom layered, wood/corrugated plastic/heat element/corrugated plastic. but with a glass aquarium you can easily tape the heat mat in place and then the corrugated plastic beneath it to help secure it in place.
