can any kind of glue stick go into any kind of glue gun?
I bought a glue gun today and on the packaging it says use with "Stick it" hot melt glue sticks. Does that mean I can only use that type or will any type do? Also, for those that use glue guns and stuff, is "Stick it" a good brand to use? Will it hold cardboard and plastic together? Or is "Create and Craft" a better choice? I bought this from the art store for £11.59, which I think is quite expensive. The one in Wilkinson was £5.46 but Create and Craft. But cos I dont have a Wilkinson locally I bought the "Stick it" one from the local art store and I don't know if I made the right choice lol Has anyone used this brand? Thanks :)

- stick it is a brand name others will work if they are the same size of glue sticks
- Well of course they are going to recommend their own brand. But you don't believe adverts do you?
- If it's the same diameter and formulated for the same temperature range, any stick should work in any hot-melt glue gun. There are high-temperature and low-temperature glue gun models and glue guns that accommodate different diameters of glue stick. Within a brand, you may find glue-stick formulations that are for different materials. It might be better to look for a glue stick that is designed for cardboard and plastic than for a glue stick of a particular brand.
- I agree that the only real factor is the size and shape of the glue stick. Some are oval or larger than others, for example. For "craft" glue guns, both high-temp and low-temp glue guns can use the same glue sticks though... one will just heat the glue/etc to a higher temp. For "industrial" glue guns (sold at hardware stores, etc) there are often special glue sticks (for wood, etc) too, usually large diameter.
