Can hot air melt glue?
Public Comments
- Most glue doesn't melt, so no. But there are thousands of different types of glue. How wax glue is about the only one I know that can melt at all.
- I assume you are referring to glue which has been used to cement two surfaces together. In this event it would depend upon the type of glue used. Generally when glue is used this way it undergoes a chemical change since it is exposed to the oxygen of the air. In this condition glue is generally not melted by high temperatures... it is stable.
- Hot-melt adhesives have many applications, but there are many different types. The answer will depend upon the melting point of the glue and the temperature of the air. Yes, if the air temperature is greater than the melting point of the glue.
