why is my hot glue gun not working?

I'm a beginner with hot glue guns. I bought one for a project. i put a glue stick in and pressed the trigger several times as it said but i didn't have it plugged in. Now i plugged it in for several minutes and it is obviously hot but when the trigger is pushed, nothing comes out. i tried doing what heheaw said but i think it might have made it worse because know its kinda sticky by the trigger.

1. Ok so I'm a expert at this cuz I use one EVERYDAY! Ok so make sure it is plugged in, then wait for it to get hot so the glue will melt. Then make sure there is not some little glue stick in the way jamming it. Make sure you can see a little hole. Then put a hot glue gun in there. Its a solid, clear stick that is hard to break, also should be bendable in the little entry way. Now push the gluestick in if its not working. It should be all good.
2. your glue gun is clogged what you need to do is to rotate the not melted until it comes and keep squeezing the trigger
