I blistered the inside of my hand with a hot glue gun. Any suggestions on how to treat it & ease the pain?
I was working on some crafts when I burned my hand with the hot glue gun (with a setting of 380 degrees F/ 193 degrees C). Naturally it blistered instantly. I would like to know how to treat the burn/blister, and how to ease the pain if possible.

- Sorry for the accident....with the gun..so easy to do been there done it too...it's always good to keep a "bag of ice" near you when working with anything hot like the gun....apply the plastic bag of ice on the injury...it should stop the pain and cause it to heal much quicker. If it continues to be painful you might want to see a doctor or nurse for first aide. Best wishes in 2007...Mama Jazzy Geri
- Depending on the size of the blister and the seriousness of the burn, I would recommend, from my experience with burns. Ice water soaks, until the skin doesn't feel hot when you take it out. That takes the "heat" out of it. Then see your doctor. Cover it with a clean non stick bandage and keep it dry and clean. See your doctor, you don't want it to get infected
- Aloe Vera (Sabila in Spanish)is the best treatment for burns on this planet
- See your doctor so that it doesn't get infected. And, keep plenty of aloe vera on hand. It's the best.
- Ouch, I got a nasty burn on my calf from a go kart a few years ago so I know how you feel. They say that ice is NOT the right thing to use as it can further injure the burned skin. Cold water is best for minor burns and neosporin can help. When I got my burn I ironically had a doctors appointment the same week. They gave me this miracle cream that helped mine heal. I doubt that yours is that bad, but then again I can't see it. If your skin is peeling or discolored (not red) then you should see a doctor. Good luck!!
- i do it all the time........u r supposed to but a cold, damp cloth over it within 30min. of the burn......dont put any ointments...salves...or anesthetics hope ure ok ;D
- Put butter on it. Sounds weird huh. I'm a doctor take my word for it. It will work. You can also try milnot. Canned milk.
- any burn larger than a 20c coin or one you are unsure of its seriousness mus be seen by a Dr. obviously your burn, as it blistered immediately, is in the area of either a partial or full thickness burn (old term - 2nd or 3rd degree) DO NOT PUT ICE ON IT, YOU MAY FINISH UP WITH ANOTHER BURN (CRYOGENIC - COLD) COOL RUNNING WATER FOR UP TO 20/30 MINUTES APPLY A CLEAN AND STERILE, LOOSE NON STICK DRESSING, NOTHING WITH FIBRES ON IT AS IT WILL CONTAMINATE THE BURN AREA AND HAVE TO BE PICKED CLEAN BEFORE TREATMENT - BLOODY PAINFUL - SEEK URGENT MEDICAL AID. DO NOT PUT ANY GELS, LOTIONS, CREAMS, BUTTER, SNAKE OIL REMEDIES ETC, WHAT YOU PUT ON MUST BE TAKEN OFF BEFORE THE BURN CAN BE TREATED PROPERLY, I REPEAT IT HAS TO BE CLEANED OFF AND IS BLOODY PAINFUL FOR YOU AND DISTRESSING TO THE PERSON WHO HAS TO CLEAN IT, KNOWING THAT THEY ARE INFLICTING FURTHER UNNECESSARY PAIN ON YOU.
