odd smell that reminds me of a hot glue gun?
today me my mom & my sis went out & me & sis got new cell phones, when we came back our big sis & a friend of hers were home, we noticed a slight smell that reminded us of a hot glue gun (the best way to describe it). we looked all around for things that may be giving this off, i thought maybe somthing on a light bulb burning, i opened basement door, nothing, laundry room nothing, kitchen only near the entrance its mainly in our livingroom(our livingroom is above our basement). when i think about it i think gas, but we dont have any gas appliances that i know of. what is this smell? should i be concerned? its very late here & im going to sleep soon... so a quick reply would be nice. we were gone for about 5 hrs btw we havn't any xmas lights out yet, i keep on going back to if hot glue gun smells like rotton eggs, wich is supposed to be gas. i don't know what rotten eggs small like, however my mom would & she just agreed that it smelled like hot glue gun.

- electrical wiring, did you just put up some xmas lights? could be the smell coming from them when they are lit and the bulbs are burning off the dust.
- We have a plug that smells like this when it gets really hot (has been plugged in for a long time) have you got any new electrical appliances?
- About glue smell, It could be a couple of things, rule out that SARAN wrap was forgotten on some food and accidental hit some surfaces that get very hot, some times packaging is very pungent of fresh plastic smell. 1. Through isolating the area from which the Oder is coming from, moving plastics away from heating elements " if plastic gets a little more than warm it will give of an oder.
- If it do smells like a hot glue gun, then maybe it's a smell of burned rubber or plastic. Do check your house electronic appliances and the wires around the house. maybe it has short-circuited or something.. IF it does, it's a serious trouble and has to be managed ASAP.
- Sniff your electrical outlets. wire terminals can become loosened over time and can cause sparking and heating to the wiring insulation.
