Can hot glue gun glue go through the dishwasher?
Public Comments
- no!
- yes
- It might rust if there are any metal parts, otherwise, it shouldn't be a problem. If you do this, make sure you let it dry completely before plugging it in again. And to all the people saying that basic electrical devices (e.g. lamps, glue guns) and water don't mix: it's only true if the device is plugged in. The true problem for such devices will be rust. For complex electronics (e.g. radios, tvs), you obviously shouldn't put these in water as they are more sensitive.

- Nothing that you plug into a wall socket should go through a dishwasher. Water and electricity are a bad mix.
- yes, it can..........can't say that it would work after that though
- That will wreak the gun and you'll probably would have to buy another one. Try cleaning it with a damp cloth.
- The problem is that the "residual glue" inside the mechanics may become heated in teh dishwasher and drip out. THings like this can clog a dishwasher especially with all that other stuff in there. Now if you have a garbage disposal in your dishwasher, that may be okay. However, basis "rule of thumb" Electricity or electrical products and water don't normally go well together! One way to clean them is using "Goo-Be-Gone" available in most stores!
- I'm not exactly certain of what you're asking. But my best answer would be no. Hot glue is intended to be melted into a slight liquid/jel before it hardens into its final form of a plastic like bond. If a hot glue stick got into your dishwasher, thats bad news for your dishwasher. Do not run it or try to get it to go through the drain. If it gets into your drain, you may have just went from spending a cool couple hundred for a new dishwasher, to several thousand for plumbing/pipe repairs.
- Yes it can. Then throw out the Hot Glue Gun and replace the dish washer.
