Alternatives to high end Scotch-Weld 3M DP810 glue?

OK, so I have no idea if this is uber-special unobtanium or what, but I am told I should use this to repair my Apple notebook hinges. At nearly 20 bucks a bottle, that's some pretty crazy expensive glue... What I want to know is this: Is it really a high end glue? Or is it just a regular epoxy? Are there any alternatives? It's going to be a little hard to find as I live in a rural part of Asia... They frequently have portions of product lineups like this but don't have 'specific' items. thanks. What do you mean superglue works fine? Does it have the same shear strength? These are two entirely different families of adhesives. One is an epoxy which is likely quite substantial and the other is a very thin liquid. I am concerned because the repair is quite expensive (90 bucks for a pair of hinges) and it seems like it's pretty likely to break again. I am told that using the best glue will prevent rebreaks. Will superglue prevent rebreaks? How long will it last?

  1. Super Glue works fine...just use VERY sparingly.
