hard wood floor?
How do you remove glued on carpet residue from a hard wood floor? I have tried scraping, solvent based chemicals, and sanding with sand paper and 3M pads. We have animals and kids in the house. I would like to stay away from more chemicals if possible. Thanks.

- i would first try some pure alcohol in a small spot. if that works then great. if not rent a drum sander buy lots of paper and go for it . seal the room off with plastic sheets and have everthing else out of the room .
- Rent a drum sander, they are perfect for the job. They usually collect the dust into a bag or hopper, but some dust will be released into the air and home but it saves alot of back-breaking work and harsh chemicals. Good luck
- Hire a professional floor re-finisher. Although floor refinishing is not rocket science, I have never seen a novice do it well. Believe it or not, it takes years of experience/schooling to get a truly beautiful finish. In addition, rental drum sanders are like those "my first work-benches" that you buy for a kid. A noisy toy. Ask friends for recommendations and then call some companies for free quotes. I've been in the wood flooring business for decades, feel free to email me if you have any more questions. Good Luck
