What is the best way to get super glue off your skin?

My mom just got some super glue on her hand, what is the best way to get it off?

  1. Two ways to do this, wait a week or get debonder at the home center or model shop.
  2. super glue remover if it dried without sticking you fingers to each other dip them in warm - hot water for a while until they wrinkle and it will come off
  3. 1. soak in water alot and wait it out 2. Super glue remover - hard to find, but can probably order online. It's great stuff! 3. Get an emery board, nail file, loofah, etc., and gently scrub at it.
  4. Acetone will take just about anything off. You may know it as nail polish remover. Just take a cotton ball or cloth rag, saturate it and rub...problem solved.
  5. Please do not use any strong solvents. Most solvents are definitely not healthy. Most are carcinogenic. If soaking in warm water does not let it be peeled off right away it will come off in a day or two as your skin sloughs off its outer layers naturally. Our outer layer of skin is constantly being replaced and that is what it is stuck to. Friends used to use crazy glue on their finger tips for rock climbing. It was to protect their skin from abrasion. It always peeled off one day later. No harsh solvents. From medicine plus: Poisonous Ingredient Cyanoacrylates Symptoms Skin tissue sticks together Home Treatment Wash exposed areas with warm water immediately. If the glue gets on the eyelids, try to keep the eyelids separated. If the eye becomes glued shut, seek emergency medical care immediately. Do not try to peel off the glue -- sweat will accumulate under it and lift it off. If fingers or other skin surfaces are stuck together, use a gentle rolling motion to try to separate them. If these procedures do not work, use some acetone on the area, as long as it is not on the eye or tongue. ---------------- However I again advise against solvents. Acetone is a poison that can be absorbed through the skin. Relatively speaking, acetone is not a very toxic compound; it can, however, damage the mucosa of the mouth and can irritate and damage skin. It also will cause clouding of the cornea and lens of the eyes if exposed. So why risk more damage if you don't need to. You likely got your mom unstuck by now but you might need this in the future or somebody else might use it.
