Does anybody know of the negative effects of using super glue to seal cuts?

- Used once in a while, there should be no problem.... but it's possible that it may cause a problem if it's done often over time. Anytime you introduce foreign chemicals into your body (especially man-made ones), it can cause problems. Since super glue hardens so fast, I don't imagine much of the liquid would get into your blood stream (which is why people use it to seal cuts in the first place), but the chemical smell and the chemicals on your skin after it's hardened can still impact you over time. After all, there's the old adage "enough of anything can kill you".
- depending on the depth of the cut, you may close the outside before all the germs are outed. be sure to clean the wound thoroughly before sealing. you want cuts to heal evenly, or better from the bottom up
- SUPER GLUE IS NOT INTENDED TO SEAL CUTS that is what bandages is for (and you can use the liquid kind to). Super glue is toxic when inhaled, or put on an open wound as it enters the bloodstream. Have you ever got super glue on your fingertips. Several at one time. It is an awful feeling and horrible to get off. I got it on all five fingers once, it dried, I panicked and tried every thing to get it off (nail polish remover, alcohol, clorox). I ran to the store for remover and that did not work well either. It had to wear off and I was miserable for days. Anything this powerful should never go into your wound. It can stay there for a very long time as the body tries to fight off the foreign substance. Can cause infections and even affect the bodies immune system. Glue is for the purposes noted on the back of the product.
- Is not uncommon in surgical procedures, in recent times.
