Gluesticks

I need to build a bridge out of popsicle sticks and elmers glue. I want to build a tress. Can i get plans?

I can use 60 sticks and it needs to weigh under 100 g. I would like it to idealy carry 70-80 Kg. Does anyone know where i can get plans? If you know of a better plan than a tress bridge, feel free to make suggestions

  1. Truss, not tress. I think the best thing you can do is go on line and find images of truss type bridges around the world, and then sort of copy the plans in your head.
  2. this is a fairly common school project. the first question is, what will the end supports look like? how long does the bridge have to be? how will the weight be supported? (on top or hanging?) all those need to be defined before any design can start. what you'll need to do is insure that there is only tension or compression on the sticks. no bending. and keep in mind that glue is good, but not great. you cannot just use a spot at the end of a stick, other than for cross members that are designed to maintain spacing, not bear load.
