what would happen if I used an elmers glue stick to hang a poster on a wall?
So I cut out airplane pictures from a calendar for my son's room. We hung them with tape, but the propellers and wings are rather narrow and tape cannot be easily hidden on the back of the paper. What if I used a glue stick? Would it come off later? Would the glue just wipe off or would it be a problem? We just painted with Behr Sateen Luster paint.

- TRY A SPOT BEHIND THE BED OR SOMEWHERE NOT SO OBVIOUS FIRST AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I THINK YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO WASH IT OFF, BUT I WOULD TEST IT FIRST
- if you use a glue stick, best NEVER want to remove those pictures from the wall.. you will take the PAINT with you.... 3M has come out with some really nice sticky things to hang stuff with that will NOT ruin your walls... you can get them at OFFICE MAX or STAPLES and they MAY have them for your airplane pictures as well...wouldn't hurt to look before you end up destroying a perfectly good paint job.
- Children's glue sticks may or may not hold a poster to the wall and could possibly take the paint off the wall or make an unsightly smudge that would be difficult to remove without damaging the paint on the wall. Instead, try a product called Sticky Tack. It's like silly putty but used to stick posters and such to the wall and it only takes a little and is easily wiped off with a damp cloth.
- I'd probably laminate the pics... and not cut out the propellors, etc... leave the laminate rounded out around them. This would keep them flat, its clear, and it would be easier to clean, when necessary. (You could wipe them off with a wet sponge... something you would NOT want to do with just the bare pictures). Depending on their size, you can use a laminator found in stores, malls, etc...or at office supply stores. Or you might look for clear contact shelf liner. Have Fun
- I don't think it would hold very well, especially hold to humidity. They make this poster "puddy" which is like play dough. You pull off a chunk, ball it up and press it onto each corner of the poster....then put it up on the wall. Worked great in my dorm room at college.
