How to remove dried hot glue gun glue from fabric?

How can I remove dried hot glue gun glue from fabric without ruining the fabric?

  1. What type of fabric? I had industrial hot glue on a new pair of black jeans (heartbreaking!). I turned the jeans inside-out, placed a piece of paper towel on top of a piece of aluminum foil and slid them inside the pant leg. I ran a hot iron over the glued spot causing the glue to transfer to the paper towel. Quickly remove the towel/foil before the glue cools and resets. The jeans came out perfect.
  2. you cant its permenant without ruining the fabric
  3. It depends on the fabric and the glue. Different glues melt and different temperatures. Different fabrics melt/scorch at different temperatures. If the fabric can "take" a higher temperature (i.e. cotton jeans or linen), maybe the heating carefully described in the earlier answer would be the ticket. If the fabric can't "take" a higher temperature, you're stuck. Can a pocket or decoration be placed there? Can the area be omitted (long-sleeved becomes short-sleeved)? Would you be willing to salvage the fabric for another use (i.e. spoiled silk blouse becomes luxury silk lining for a jacket).
  4. I did what the previous person suggested, foil and paper towel, It worked great... my sofa cover was saved!!! THANKS!!!!
