I need to glue a variety of thicknesses of paper to cardboard. What is the best glue to use?

Are normal craft glues efficient or what about a hot glue gun. Has anyone any really tried and tested ideas? Thanks heaps.

3. If you want the paper to lay flat without the "tell-tell" signs of glue, try "Photomount" spray adhesive. Most craft stores & photo shops sell it for about $10 a can.
4. I'd use rubber cement. Hot glue is too bulky and craft glue can make your paper curl
5. It depends on what the project is and how strong/permanent the bond needs to be. For example, if you're covering a cardboard box to be used as decorative storage, I would recommend Mod Podge. It acts like an adhesive, then you can use it to seal the entire box. (That's what I did.) You can also use gel medium, in your local arts supply store. It dries clear, just like the Mod Podge. Gel medium works just like MP, but it is easier to control. I use gel medium for collages in my altered books. Aleen's Craft Glue is easy to use and clean up after. Just brush it on and stick the paper on. Easy! Also a great adhesive for covering a box. Those are the stronger adhesives that I've had experience with and liked. Good luck!
6. Spray glue will work best for this type of project.
