what type of glue should I use to glue ribbon onto a paper mache box?

I'm making a card box for my wedding and want to wrap the outside of the lids with shear ribbon what is a good glue that won't look messy through the ribbon and would dry clear. Should I just try a glue gun?

4. Hot glue is good but! Thay have a glue now I use a lot called ModPodge thay have satin or mate I personally like both I use it for a lot of projects. I use it to glue a item on and then go over it with a coat.But make sure you just put a light coat of it under neath it to and if u what it to hold til the other dries use a dot or to of hot glue!
5. There is not a glue that will NOT SHOW through sheer ribbons. 1)Depending on your box shape....glue the ribbon only at top and bottom and fasten with some straight pins until dry. Keep the glue thin and mashed flat so it will not add bulk later. (a cool melt-hot glue will work fast but be sure to smush it down flat. When you are done you can add a trim to cover the glued areas. Even try a plaid design by weaving the ribbon from up and down and left to right. experiment 2) cut you a card stock pattern (get some mat board scraps from a local frame shop) Cut them so they are the exact size of the sides of your box and cover them in a light pellon and then cover each side with your ribbon. Wrap the ribbons to the edges or around to the back side. (again be sure the glue does not get thick and ridgy(not a good word) Then when each panel is OK, fasten it to the box with glue. Hold snugly in place until the glue dries (rubber bands, tied it up with ribbon, wrap snugly with seran wrap....something). Trim any glue on edges with a fancy braid or cording or sequin trim (what ever you like) good luck. One way I make boxes is to use 2 deep picture frames that are the same size. Cover them and add hinges.
6. Use spray glue. DO NOT USE A GLUE GUN!
