Can I use hot glue on candles?

I have been asked to decorate some candles for a wedding and I was given flat back crystals. How can I put these crystals on the candles? I have a feeling hot glue with just melt the candle.

1. use spray glue in the can. hot glue will melt candle wax.
2. A low-temperature glue gun works perfectly for gluing things on candles. I have a dual glue gun that can use both the high temp and low temp glue sticks and have used the low temp to decorate candles several times.
