I asked the question as to what this might be and got the below answer. "Often caused by a coil in the deflection cct vibrating caused by varnish in windings going off, can be fixed by applying hot melt glue to coil , coil looks like a bobbin of copper wire and stands about 1 to 1.5 ins high. Could also be flyback transformer itself though these days they are built not vibrate mechanically. Young people and animals can hear the noise better than an older person, sometime older people can not hear it at all, the noise or whistle is at 15.625kHz which is why old folks ( like me ) can not hear it all , therefore if you wait long enough you will cease to hear it as well !!Oh well nuff said . Good luck and cheers, Pete Note ! An arcing eht transformer is a safety issue ( fire risk ) and the high volts applied to pic tube is DC." Can I get someone to come to my house and fix this?? Thanks Michael.
