Gluesticks

What is the best and strongest kind of bridge that can be made out of 100 popsicle sticks and wood glue?

the bridge can only be 19 inches long.

  1. I think this will depend on whether the bridge MUST be nineteen inches long, rather than whether it must be less than nineteen inches long. I think the strongest support would occur if you simply glue-laminated all 100 Popsicle sticks to create a “butcher block style board” the length of one stick and width of whatever a stack of 100 would be. If that isn’t going to make a long enough bridge, you can laminate them as offset layers, like brick laying, until you get the length you need. Whatever you come up with, you want the major load to be applied from one edge of the Popsicle stick to the other edge, not end-to-end, and certainly not across the width of the stick.
