Gluesticks

A beam bridge with Popsicle sticks and glue?

Does anyone know the estimated time to build one? Its due tomorrow and im starting to build it. Is it hard to do?

  1. Difficulty depends on the construction rules and the weight the bridge must support. The main problem you'll likely encounter starting this late is drying time for the glue you use. If you don't know where to start, keep in mind rail road truss bridges were designed by knowledgeable engineers and would be a good place to start.
  2. depends on your design and parameters. Faster tends to be sloppier. just because of the effort you put into making the glue bonds. The maximum shear stress of the glue is also dependent on the amount of glue and thickness of glue you use. Harder glues also tend to be better at making strong joints. Also think about the moment about the load bearing points. Something must be able to resist the moments, the glue shear must also be able to handle it as well.
