How long does super glue create an oder?

I have bonded some small pieces of metal to plastic and was wondering how long the super glue oder (for lack of better terms) to dry? I put locks on a fish tank top and don't want my animal to get hurt from the smell. Thanks

1. The smell wont hurt the animal. no worries!
2. unfortunately when used on plastics super glue doesn't ever really dry, the plastic sort of semi melts and remains tacky and smelly for a long time. Only use super glues on recommended materials, I'm pretty sure that most plastics are not among the recommended materials.
